From 10 to 17 December 2025, ICT and CREFM will be carrying out major maintenance work on the RID data centre. This is necessary in order to replace the outdated power supply and carry out additional (security) maintenance. It is in line with recent CREFM initiatives aimed at gaining a better understanding of power consumption and using energy more efficiently.

What does this mean?

The maintenance work on the data centre will affect the availability of ICT services. Specifically, this means:

• Teaching activities and operational management, including campus security, will continue as usual.
• Support applications will remain available.
• Some of the research facilities will be temporarily shut down. You will be informed of this in good time.

Preparations for the maintenance have already started. If you have any questions about this maintenance and the availability of services, please contact your faculty IT manager or the ICT Service Desk.

This maintenance will future-proof our digital infrastructure and ensure that business continuity remains guaranteed.

SURF will perform maintenance on the SURFdrive environment during the weekend of October 31. As part of this, the backend will switch from ownCloud to Nextcloud to improve scalability and security.

SURFdrive may be unavailable throughout the weekend.
